EADS training investment pays off with awards
In addition to winning Welsh honours in the Large Employer category, the company also won a UK National Training Award at the National Training and Modern Apprenticeship Awards, Wales 2009. Deputy Minister for Skills, John Griffiths AM, praised the finalists and described the excellence in training as inspirational. He highlighted the investment in skills as an investment in the future and prosperity of Wales. Some 800 companies initially were entered. EADS DS will now be a finalist for the overall UK Winner of the Year awards. EADS introduced its graduate scheme on account of its rapid growth in the 90s. The Newport office since grew to become one of Wales’ largest employers, with over 1200 staff. HR Director, Alison Noon-Jones, said: The graduate scheme has consistently delivered highly trained, highly motivated managers throughout the entire organisation. Whilst the training scheme is challenging it also includes elements of fun. The retention rates are remarkable. |
